Job Description

Mobile Device Systems Engineer is a part of the Technical Services team that supports the agency's Mobile Technology Systems. This position requires working closely with the VDI Engineers, Server Engineers, Application Developers, Information Security, Service Desk, and Desktop Support teams to support the agency's Mobile and Desktop Support infrastructure. Provide support of the enterprise desktop environment, including mobile devices, user experience, and system

management infrastructure. Provide research and development relative to the growth and future technical advances of IT infrastructure. Support TriMet system, application packaging and scripting, application distribution, security performance patching, image management, and

support for back-end server infrastructure as needed. Maintenance of Mobile Device and Desktop Systems servers. Mentor less experienced team members.

Essential Functions

• Implement and maintain enterprise-class mobile device and desktop management solutions, and advise on enterprise policies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Install, upgrade, configure, test, maintain and support operating system software such as MS Windows, iOS, and Android in a production environment.
• Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot servers and platforms such as VM Workspace ONE MDM (Airwatch), Tanium, Apple DEP, Google Enterprise, Samsung Knox and MS Active Directory.
• Monitor system performance and review performance logs.
• Perform and/or oversee daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
• Provide technical and analytical Tier 3 support for desktop and mobile device services.
• Install, configure, test, and deploy software packages/security patches in the enterprise environment.
• Within the Desktop team, ensure the standards for packaging, system policies, and automation configurations are maintained. Develop the application distribution processes for tablet, smartphone devices, laptops, and PC’s.
• Remain current on knowledge of industry standards in the server, desktop and mobile administration, protocols, and security. Participate in evaluating existing systems and processes to identify improvements and updates that keep them running in optimal conditions.
• Evaluate alternative solutions as technology evolves.
• Individual in this position must be able to work in a standard office environment, which requires sitting and viewing monitor(s) for extended periods, operating standard office equipment such as, but not limited to, a keyboard, telephone, etc.
• Knowledge of VM Workspace ONE MDM (Airwatch), Apple DEP, Google Enterprise, and Samsung Knox
• Working knowledge of application integration and deployment
• Working knowledge of Apple and Android devices and their management
• Technical knowledge of mobile application management and mobile device security, and current trends
• Experience in automating application delivery to the desktop and mobile devices Technical knowledge of multiple operating systems and support of Enterprise level Applications Working knowledge of Active Directory
• Experience working with Microsoft Windows 10,11, Microsoft Office 365, VM Workspace ONE MDM (Airwatch), Tanium, Jira/Confluence.
• Experience with OS upgrades/migrations on a corporate scale
• Experience in working in a mission-critical environment
• Proven documentation and technical writing skills such as policies, standard operating procedures, and user procedures
• Ability to communicate with and influence technical and non-technical customers, colleagues, and vendors
• Ability to share knowledge and mentor, and manage less experienced team members
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team and with client users with strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities and meet target deadlines
• Available for on-call evening/weekend support and incident resolution, potentially during off-hours
