With the loss of Game Informer, we also lost a significant source of amazing videogame art. Often, these pieces were officially made from the videogame company themselves. The reveal of a Game Informer cover art and story was often the first big blow out of news information for a game. Unfortunately, the cover gallery on Gameinformer's own website is down. These contributions of gaming art are worth remembering so I thought it would nice for people to share their favorite covers from Game Informer's long history. Some of my favorites:

I think this was the first issue I ever bought, so it's pretty memorable to me for that reason

I subscribed for a couple years just because I loved these full art covers. That Breath of the Wild one is fantastic.

Can't seem to find a higher resolution version of this but it's my favorite
I swear, it 100% me of a time my dad and bro were sitting together after a relative's funeral.
One of my low-key favorite FF artworks; the casual lounging between them is so great.

Damn, I have tons of GI mags sitting in the closet at my parents house. This has inspired me to bring all those mags back with me and make a reading area.

Listening to the MinnMax Game Informer Reunion podcast and it inspired me to look for a thread like this. I hope other folks post more!

I really liked the one for Control. Love the way the white light spilling in from the top perfectly intersects the 'm' and 'e' in 'game'.

I'll never forget walking into Gamestop in 2004 and seeing this:
The Oblivion screenshots completely blew me away.

My grandma got me a subscription with my gamecube around summer 2004 and reading up on Oblivion made me so hyped for an xbox 360. I learned about the Power PC.
So many hours reading this back to back in rural farm house to the kerosine lantern.

Found the poster tube this was in - GS sold giant two sided posters of the Bioshock Infinite covers and I got mine signed by Troy Baker, Courtnee Draper and Ken Levine at NYCC that year

Feels weird seeing this image without all of the GOTY nonsense plastered over it. Such a good cover.
Some really beautiful ones here, particularly love the Control one - never actually seen that before!

This was pretty dope.
But this must be one of the favorites. All NMS pre-release art was jusy really hitting home runs with the "old school" sci-fi vibe.
